Dinesh Srirangpatna
Research Manager, Hardcopy Usage Research Practice

Dinesh Srirangpatna is a Research Manager with IDC’s U.S. Hardcopy Usage program. He is responsible for quantitative and qualitative research on the hardcopy usage trends. Specifically, his research focus includes forecasting and analyzing page volume trends for printers, MFP’s and copiers by speed segment, vendor share, technology class as well as price bands; analyzing user survey data driving print behavior (spanning a variety of topics such as social networks, workflow, device consolidation, mobile computing, cloud applications). In addition, Dinesh works closely with IDC global analyst on consulting engagements.

Dinesh has over 15 years of industry experience in strategic planning, product management, project management and software architecture encompassing printers, servers and enterprise software. He has worked with Samsung, HP, HCL Technologies over the years. He has expertise in driving a differentiated software solution strategy, defining cloud platform roadmap, developing MPS (Managed Print Solutions) solutions , developing software & marketing requirements, and architecting open platforms. As a strategy manager at HP, he was involved in competitive analysis, profit pool analysis, executive briefs and product road maps.

He has spoken at industry events on emerging topics such as MPS, covering both the business and technical aspects, for audiences including a mix of vendors, dealers, resellers and end users. He provides expert opinion, strategic analysis, profit pool analysis and technology trends for direct and channel play in the printer market. He is skilled at the holistic picture from conception to rollout spanning marketing, engineering, finance, sales and support functions.

Dinesh has a bachelors in electronics Engineering from Bangalore University and an MBA from University of Texas, Austin – McCombs School of Business. He is a pragmatic project and program manager with PMP, ITIL, PRINCE2 certifications.
