Dustin leads the telecommunications research for the Australia and New Zealand leveraging in country skills and research across the region. Main topics include managed data networks, managed mobility services, fixed and wireless routing and transport infrastructure, unified communications, contact centre, collaboration, conferencing, managed services, WAN optimization, network security and transformation.
Current research projects focus on future of telecoms and emerging business models as well as network-centric IT service strategies. As a member of the Asia-Pacific telecom team, Dustin specialises in leveraging the core research, contextualising the content and increasing its relevance for businesses across ANZ. He is also active in moderating CIO roundtables, public speaking and working with IDC's vertical insights teams. Dustin spends his time discussing business challenges and bridging the gap back to technology.
Prior to IDC Dustin worked as an ICT analyst firm Current Analysis based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. He held the positions of Senior and Principal Analyst – Telecoms and IT Research for over 8 years. In this role Dustin was responsible for directing and publishing syndicated research and sales enablement projects that provide strategic and tactical advice and recommendations to international telecoms carriers, IT services providers as well as large technology users. Prior roles were spent working for an international carrier and in strategic consulting in emerging markets.
Dustin has a history of delivering global key-note speaking engagements, high-level industry and client presentations, and has regularly featured in leading business and technology press, TV broadcasts and webinars.
Dustin has a MSc. (Economics) European Politics and Policy from the London School of Economics and a BA in Political Science from University of California.
