Nav Chander is a Research Manager for telecom business services and associated carrier network infrastructure within IDC’s Worldwide Telecom Division. His primary focus is managing the research agenda for the U.S. Enterprise Communication Services program, and contributing research to the Worldwide Telecom and Managed Network Services & Worldwide Wireline Infrastructure programs for Carrier Ethernet, IP VPN, Optical Networking Services and U.S./global service provider strategy. Nav's research covers current and emerging trends in MPLS, Carrier Ethernet, Network Virtualization, Software Defined Networks (SDN) and their impact to telecom service providers and telecom networking vendors business strategies. Nav provides analysis, forecasting, strategy and consulting to telecom wireline equipment vendors and service providers that are positioning new enterprise telecom services and developing new wireline networking product solutions.
Nav has over 20 years of product planning, product management, marketing and business development experience. He is an experienced enterprise and carrier data networking telecommunication professional developing product and marketing strategy. Nav is also knowledgeable of challenges and opportunities facing the Telecom Infrastructure segment. His past roles include working with some of the leading global systems integrators, telecom equipment vendors, and service providers such as MCI, Alcatel-Lucent, Motorola, IBM and 3Com.
Nav has had an active role in the development and adoption of new carrier telecom services as demonstrated by his leadership role as the VP, Marketing Co-chair of the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) from 2001-2004, a leading industry forum that focuses on the deployment of global Carrier Ethernet Services. During that time, he was instrumental in driving the industry awareness and carrier acceptance of the establishment of industry standards and service definitions for Carrier Class Ethernet. Throughout his career, Nav has had an active role in developing the market for new telecom and networking technologies for VoIP, MPLS, ATM, Frame Relay, Packet Optical and Ethernet Switching.
Mr. Chander has both an undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA from the University of Ottawa, Canada.
