As Research Manager of the IDC China Enterprise System and Software Research group, Kathy Pan's research focuses on the middleware, database, business intelligence, and development tool markets in China. Her research projects include IDC's Continuous Intelligence Service (CIS), tracker, and customized projects.
Prior to joining IDC, Kathy served as Executive Publisher & Editor in Chief to the CCW (China Computerworld) Media Group China Network World (CNW) newspaper, a renowned publication focused on Enterprise IT reporting.
Possesses an in-deep understanding of the Media and IT industries, Kathy's professional experience has allowed her to establish a certain influence in the IT industry. She has a wealth of experience in project management and team management and led CNW in its transformation from print media to an integrated information services platform featuring print, online, and events.
Kathy is profoundly knowledgeable in the field of software research and has authored many influential special reports and professional articles about Enterprise software products, technology, markets and application. She has been invited by companies including IBM, Oracle, Sybase, and Teradata to attend international conferences and interview numerous executives to report and publish insightful articles.
Kathy has years of experience tracking IT products, technology, and marketing trends as well as working with various local and foreign IT vendors. She led the CNW team to develop strong cooperative relationships with IT vendors such as IBM, Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Novell, Oracle, and F5 in the areas of PR, research report, marketing and events.
Kathy's leadership of the annual China network World Conference and Data Center World Conference led her to become quite influential in the China IT industry as these events attracted such recognized IT vendors as IBM, HP, Cisco, Intel, Microsoft, Nokia, Snifor as sponsors.
Kathy graduated from the Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics with a Master of Engineering Degree with a specialty in Computer Software.
