Associate Vice President, Enterprise System, Software and Services Research, IDC China
As an Associate Vice President for IDC, Jeffrey Yao is currently managing the Enterprise System, Software and Services research business in China. Jeffrey has more than 16 years regional experience both in Asia/Pacific and North America, from industries that span across the IT, Computer Graphics, and Power and Telecommunications sectors. He has served in various marketing and product management leadership roles for IT solutions, hi-tech hardware, software, and services.
Prior to joining IDC China, Jeffrey was leading the APJ server solution marketing at Dell and was fully responsible for all aspects of marketing initiatives across the region, supporting a yearly USD 1.8 billion server and service business in Asia/Pacific & Japan. He provided strategic and operational leadership in developing, managing and driving integrated and measurable activities from various perspectives including product marketing, go-to-market campaigns, marketing communication, alliance and channel, and online marketing. With his dedication and commitment, Dell had for the first time in history gained the No. 1 position for x86 server unit shares in the APJ (Asia/Pacific including Japan) region in Q2 of 2013. Jeffrey had also been leading the solution transformation for Dell's businesses since 2009. He led the cross-functional teams at Dell APJ, and established a highly impactful SMI (Solution Marketing Infrastructure) in the region and the first SIC (Solution Innovation Center) in Greater China located in Shanghai.
Before Jeffrey relocated to Asia and joined Dell APJ in 2006, he was committed to product marketing and channel management at InSpeck Inc. Canada - one of the world's leading 3D digitalizing solution providers, and CAE Electronics Ltd ECS - an internationally well-known SCADA system vendor in the power industry based in Montreal, Canada.
Jeffrey holds a Master's Degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Concordia University in Montreal, Canada.
