IDC forecasts that the Western European platform-as-a-service (PaaS) market will grow from €432 million ($601 million) in 2011 to €1,523 million ($2,119 million) in 2016, a CAGR of 32.4%. "Although we have reduced the forecast growth rates significantly in this new forecast, we still find that PaaS is going to be a rich, vibrant, and rapidly growing market," said David Bradshaw, research manager, IDC Applications and Solutions. "Most of the submarkets are still very open, and there will be sustained growth in the number of market participants in the coming years."
