This IDC study examines the Western European wireless printing market, split by technology for color laser, color inkjet and monochrome laser. 2011 vendor shares with unit shipments and value are provided for each of the 16 countries, along with a review of vendor activities. In addition, long-range forecasts provide expectations for units, value, and average selling price (ASV) for the next five years in each market and category. Key forecast assumptions are identified with the factors accelerating and inhibiting the various technology segments. "With hardware WiFi components increasingly affordable and easy to deploy and cloud printing still in its infancy, these are definitely exciting times for the wireless peripherals market," said Mario Lombardo, senior analyst, Imaging Hardware Devices and Document Solutions, IDC. "In the coming years, as the market for mobile handheld devices continues to boom, the demand for wireless printers will increase, particularly in small and medium businesses."
