This IDC Survey provides insights and analysis into findings from IDC's annual SMB IT Decision Maker (ITDM) Survey. This specific survey analyzes which enterprise applications are moving from a traditional on-premise model to a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model.
Slides pertain to the average rate of SaaS usage by key software category, how fast specific SaaS categories are moving off-premise, and which on-premise apps are declining. Special attention is paid to IT-enabled small businesses (50-99 employee firms that tend to have a formalized IT function) and Millennial-led midmarket firms.
IDC defines small businesses as firms with 1-99 employees and midmarket as firms with 100–999 employees. Millennials are executives aged 35 or younger who make up the majority of a given firm's leadership. Gen Xers are aged 35-50, Baby Boomers are 50-70, and the Greatest Generation are 70+. The data presented is from IDC's October 2015 U.S. SMB ITDM Survey fielded to a total of 700 SMB ITDMs surveyed on a variety of IT-related topics.
