This IDC study examines the vendor revenue performance in the SaaS CRM applications market for 2014. The SaaS CRM applications market grew a remarkable 22.5% in 2014 to reach $11.7 billion in revenue as the market continues to transition to SaaS CRM offerings as well as augment existing environments with net-new functionality unavailable in the on-premises world, such as social media marketing applications.
"SaaS CRM applications continue to expand, representing a significant portion of the CRM software market. While SaaS offers many advantages over on-premises in terms of flexibility and time to implementation, it is also used in conjunction with on-premises solutions, creating hybrid environments in which investments in existing software can be fully exercised and balancing the best that both computing models have to offer," says Mary Wardley, research vice president for IDC's CRM Applications and Customer Experience.
