This IDC Health Insights Perspective discusses announcements from eClinicalWorks' National Users Conference held in Nashville, Tennessee, October 16–19, 2015. Attendees included 4,500 of eClinicalWorks' current clients, representing U.S. ambulatory practices of all sizes. eClinicalWorks entered the ambulatory EHR market in 1999, with a simplified, streamlined EHR and practice management (PM) system that offered modern architecture, hosting, and services at highly competitive and transparent pricing and was initially targeted at small and solo practices with fewer than 10 providers. As eClinicalWorks moved into the meaningful use era, the company improved its functionality to allow it to serve larger, more complex ambulatory practices while retaining competitive pricing. While many of the 4,500 attendees at the users' conference were from small practices, there were also many larger organizations in attendance. The users' conference offered customers the opportunity to network and share best practices, access hands-on training opportunities, and stay connected with the company through announcements and demonstrations of new functionality. The heavily product-focused meeting featured no outside speakers, with eClinicalWorks management, employees, and customers leading all of the sessions. In addition, an extensive contingent of eClinicalWorks staff was on hand to provide advice on approaches for customers, and many customers themselves presented on use cases and results seen from the products.
