This IDC Health Insights report describes the current status of and drivers of demand for IT consulting and systems integration spending among midtier, large, and very large hospitals in the United States. Current 2015–2016 data illuminates what the IT functions in these larger hospitals are buying and why.
"The data shows hospitals have entered a post-reform era, and new strategic priorities are driving providers' IT spending for external services," says Sven Lohse, research manager at IDC Health Insights. "To achieve new strategic goals regarding population management and patient engagement, hospitals will have to use wise IT vendor management policies and procedures. IT consultants with the needed expertise in required technologies, such as mobility and analytics, will be in higher demand."
