This IDC study provides an analysis of vendor performance of the PC market in 2015. At the global level, Lenovo (share of 20.7%), HP Inc. (19.4%), and Dell (14.2%) remained the top 3. Apple (7.4%) overtook Acer (7.0%) and ASUS (7.0%) for fourth place. In the United States, HP Inc. (27.8%) and Dell (23.9%) remained firmly entrenched as the top 2. Lenovo (12.5%) overtook Apple (12.4%) while a struggling Toshiba (5.3%) rounded out the top 5.
"The PC market returned arguably its worst performance in 2015," states IDC Research Director Linn Huang. "Still, even in a declining market, there are winners and losers. The competitive landscape in the PC industry is shaping up for a big four with Lenovo, HP, Dell, and Apple all having healthy and sustainable competitive positions."
