Abstract
This IDC Survey highlights the results of the worldwide monthly technology investment monitor for September 2023. IT leaders continue to face an array of conflicting challenges in the second half of 2023 as they continue to anticipate potential economic disruptions and react to the emergence of generative AI (GenAI) as a major technology development. In September 2023, IDC connected with IT leaders around the world to gain an insight into how they continue to navigate disruptions and prioritize technology investments, especially cloud platforms and connectivity.
We also delved into how the emergence of GenAI is affecting data use guideline development and forcing a reassessment of risks associated with privacy and intellectual property. In IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 8, IDC asked 888 IT decision makers in North America, Asia/Pacific, and Western Europe to indicate how concerns about inflation, recession skills shortages, GenAI, and other developments are affecting technology investments for the next year.
