Abstract

This IDC Survey presents the worldwide monthly technology investment monitor for November 2023. IT leaders closed out 2023 in a challenging position. They became more concerned about potential economic disruptions in 2024, but they also entered 2024 budget planning with the strong intention to increase investments in areas related to generative AI (GenAI). In November 2023, IDC connected with IT leaders around the world to gain an insight into how they continue to navigate disruptions and prioritize technology investments, especially related to devices budget plans and GenAI. They are also focusing new efforts in the areas of cyber-recovery, multicloud operations, and the use of dedicated cloud infrastructure–as-a-service solutions.

In IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 10, IDC asked 889 IT decision makers in North America, Asia/Pacific, and Western Europe to indicate how concerns about inflation, recession skills shortages, GenAI, and other developments are affecting technology investments for the next year.
