Abstract
This IDC Survey presents the worldwide monthly technology investment monitor for December 2023. IT leaders closed out 2023 in a challenging position. They became more concerned about potential economic disruptions in 2024, but they also entered 2024 budget planning with the strong intention to increase investments in areas related to generative AI (GenAI). In December 2023, IDC connected with IT leaders around the world to gain an insight into how they continue to navigate disruptions and prioritize technology investments, especially related to dedicated infrastructure and AppDev budget plans as well as GenAI. They are also continuing to deal with significant levels of ransomware attacks and are relying more on cyberinsurance.
In IDC's Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 11, IDC asked 881 IT decision-makers in North America, Asia/Pacific, and Western Europe to indicate how concerns about inflation, recession skills shortages, GenAI, and other developments are affecting technology investments for the next year.
