Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the results of IDC's February 2024 Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey, Wave 2. The survey results showed that 85% of organizations that are actively testing or implementing GenAI expect central IT teams to design and govern core corporate GenAI infrastructure platforms. As more and more organizations make plans to build out computing and storage environments optimized for GenAI, corporate IT leaders are being chartered to create shared, corporate GenAI platforms that support workload-specific deployment choices while ensuring consistent end-to-end application performance, data integrity, and workload scalability — while maintaining security and regulatory compliance.

"Each specific GenAI workload will have unique performance, latency, data security, and cost constraints that will determine where it is best deployed," explains Mary Johnston Turner, research vice president, IDC's Future of Digital Infrastructure Agenda. "However, regardless of where any one workload runs, it is imperative that the organization be able to seamlessly integrate data sources, automate infrastructure scalability, and standardize security controls across cloud and dedicated infrastructure assets in order to efficiently support ongoing GenAI-powered business agility and innovation."
