IDC’s Upcoming Middle East CIO Summit to Advise CxOs on Enabling Their Digital Transformation Journeys
31 Jan 2016
Dubai – International Data Corporation (IDC) today announced the key topics that will set the agenda of its upcoming Middle East CIO Summit 2016. Running under the theme 'Leading Your Organization's Digital Transformation', the event will be hosted at Abu Dhabi's Jumeirah Etihad Towers on February 17–18 under the esteemed patronage of H.E. Sheikh Nahayan Mabarak Al Nahayan, the UAE's Minister of Culture, Youth, and Community Development.
Speaking at today's press conference, Jyoti Lalchandani, IDC's group vice president and regional managing director for the Middle East, Africa, and Turkey, gave an insight into the challenges that the region's organizations are facing as the emergence of digital transformation disrupts the customers, business models, and industries that they had previously taken for granted.
"The Middle East is increasingly being exposed to a new wave of disruptive technologies that present incredible opportunities to drive innovation and value creation across all facets of the organization," he said today. "At IDC we believe the single most important competency required to thrive in this new digital economy is the ability to rapidly respond to changing conditions within the ecosystem in which the organization resides. The ultimate aim must be to deliver a compelling customer experience that seamlessly blends the digital and the physical worlds, but success in this regard will only come with a whole new level of enterprise-wide collaboration that encompasses the entire CxO value chain."
Against this backdrop, IDC announced that it will be hosting two dedicated CMO and CFO Workshops on the sidelines of this year's Middle East CIO Summit, as well as three vertical-focused tracks that will present expert insights into the issues currently shaping ICT investment in the oil and gas, government, and BFSI industries. Joining them on the agenda will be two entirely new sessions that will explore the growing prominence of women leaders in IT and the rise of Smart City initiatives across the region.
Making a welcome return to the Summit will be a series of workshops based on IDC's IT Executive Programs (IEP). "Our IEP Workshops were extremely well received when they made their debut during last year's Middle East CIO Summit, and I have no doubt that the region's ICT leaders will once again garner huge value from their involvement in these pioneering sessions," said Lalchandani. "Some of IDC's most respected global vice presidents will be flying in to host these workshops, which will explore the very latest developments in the areas of strategic architecture, cloud hosting, enterprise mobility, next-generation security, and IT transformation."
Today's press conference saw senior representatives from Summit Partners Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Intel, Dell, and DarkMatter join Lalchandani for an open Q&A session with the assembled media, while there was also confirmation that one of this year's keynote speakers will be Gerry Pennell, who – as CIO of the London Olympic Organising Committee – facilitated the most technologically connected Olympic Games ever and delivered the most viewed sports website in the world.
Aside from the aforementioned Summit Partners, IDC has teamed up with a host of leading ICT vendors for the Middle East CIO Summit 2016, including Netscout Systems as Platinum Partner; EMC as CFO Partner; Sanovi, Brocade, Juniper, MDS Computers, and FireEye as Gold Partners; MISYS and Automic as Banking and Finance Vertical Partners; OpenText, Fortinet, SAP, and Veeam Software as Government Vertical Partners; Tata Communications, Vision Solutions, and iDashboards as Lunch Partners; and AGC as Dinner Partner. ITP, Capital Business, and Executive Women will be the event's official Media Partners for 2016.
