IDC Appoints Jeffrey Yao as Associate Vice President of IDC China

Beijing, December 17, 2013 –Over 31 years dedicated in China, IDC has been serving clients in the information Communications Technology (ICT) domain on market intelligence, events, and advisory. While growing numbers of MNCs focus business development in the Greater China in recent years, more domestic enterprises have started aggressively expanding their footprint globally.
In the view of the importance of the China market, IDC is pleased to announce the appointment of Jeffrey Yao as the Associate Vice President who will lead the Enterprise System, Software and Services team to better fulfill the increasing demands both domestically and internationally.
Yao has more than 16 years’ regional experience both in Asia-Pacific and North America in various industries across IT, including Computer Graphic, Power and Telecommunications. He served in various marketing and product management leadership roles for IT solutions, hightech hardware, software and services.

Yao’s appointment assures IDC’s commitment to grow its research capabilities around enterprise system, software and services in China; not only providing the deeper insights into the market as well as consulting, marketing advisory and go-to-market planning.

Prior to joining IDC China, Yao was leading the APJ server solution marketing at Dell and fully responsible for all aspects of marketing initiatives across the region to support a yearly $1.8B server and service business in Asia Pacific and Japan. He provided strategic and operational leadership in developing, managing and driving integrated, measurable activities from various perspectives including product marketing, go-to-market campaign, marcom, alliance, channel and online. With his dedication and commitment, Dell APJ gained the x86 server unit share No. 1 position in Q2 of 2013 first time in its history.
Yao has also been leading the solution transformation of Dell business since 2009. He led the cross-functional teams at Dell APJ established a highly impactful SMI (Solution Marketing Infrastructure) in the region and the first SIC (Solution Innovation Center) in Greater China located in Shanghai as well.
Before Yao relocated to Asia to join Dell APJ in 2006, he was in charge of product marketing and channel management for InSpeck Inc., a world-leading 3D digitalizing solution provider, and CAE Electronics Ltd ECS, a globally well-known SCADA system vendor in the power industry based in Montreal, Canada.
IDC established its China office in 1982 and was the first global leading market research firm entering the China market. IDC's customers in China include Forbes Global 500 companies, MNCs, as well as China local industry leaders. As of October 2013, IDC China has 50 research analysts serving more than 200 clients.
