IDC Asia/Pacific and FBM Confirm Judging Panel for the IT Excellence Awards 2012

Singapore, June 5, 2012 -- IDC Asia/Pacific and Fairfax Business Media Asia (FBM Asia) today announced the final panel of judges for the IT Excellence Awards (ITX) 2012. The awards recognize IT organizations and CIOs for management excellence and the original and creative use of technology to help attain business goals. Results of the IT Excellence Awards 2012 will be announced at the Singapore leg of IDC’s Asia/Pacific CIO Summit 2012 on August 2.
Entering its 10th year in 2012, the ITX program was first rolled out in 2003 by MIS Asia, FBM Asia's flagship media property for IT leaders. This year, the ITX program is open to enterprises with projects in this region. Winners will be chosen from seven categories: Best Change Management, Best IT Governance, Best Security Strategy, Best Business Enabler, Best Knowledge Management, Best Bottom-line IT, and Emerging Technology.
Judges will use a number of criteria to evaluate projects, including how the idea was conceived, its implementation, synergy created with the enterprise’s overall business strategy, and specific results such as cost savings, increased sales, time to market, improved margins, new revenue streams, improved shareholder value, increased productivity, reduced customer churn rate, reduced staff turnover, and reduced downtime.
The judge’s panel is composed of senior CIOs and industry experts from a range of industries. Each of these experts has years of experience and in-depth knowledge of information technology. The esteemed panel includes:
- Associate Professor Daniel Tan, Director, Centre for Educational Development, Nanyang Technological University, Singapore.
- Steve Lee Hee Kwang, CIO and Senior Vice President, Technology, Changi Airport Group
- Eric Lauzon, Chief Information Officer, International Baccalaureate
- Alvin Khoo, Regional IT Director, DSM Nutritional Products AP
- Sandra Ng, Group Vice President, Practice Group, IDC Asia/Pacific
- Tim Dillon, Associate Vice President Asia/Pacific End User & Mobility Research, IDC Asia/ Pacific
The Singapore and Kuala Lumpur leg of IDC’s Asia/Pacific CIO Summit 2012 is jointly hosted by IDC Asia/Pacific and FBM. Daniel Tan
Daniel Tan is the Director of the Centre for Educational Development at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and an Associate Professor at the NTU School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. He is involved in several projects on information warfare, encryption, authentication, intrusion detection systems and usability.
Steve Lee Hee Kwang
Steve is the CIO and Senior Vice President, Technology at Changi Airport Group. His responsibilities include IT project management, operations and support, and architecture and strategy for both airport operations and corporate IT systems.
Eric Lauzon
Eric joined the International Baccalaureate (IB) as Chief Information Officer in April 2009, bringing with him more than 25 years of solid technology expertise. Eric leads a global team whose mandate is to ensure the strategic, effective and efficient use of technology to drive and support an anticipated 10,000 IB World Schools and 2.5 million students by 2020.
Alvin Khoo
With 20 years of experience in IT industry, Alvin heads a regional team in a major MNC with regional and global management responsibilities in applications, infrastructure and business information management. He graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Masters in Technology (Knowledge Engineering).
Sandra Ng
Sandra Ng has been in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) advisory and consulting industry for 20 years. While her technology research expertise is vast and diverse, she is best known in the industry for her Telecommunications knowledge and opinions within the Asia/Pacific region. In her current role as the Head of the Practice Group at IDC Asia/Pacific, Sandra leads a team of IDC's senior analysts with collective expertise across the entire ICT industry
Tim Dillon
Tim Dillon is IDC's Associate Vice President of Australian research group as well as the Associate Vice President of IDC’s Asia/Pacific End-User and Mobility Research Group. Based in Australia, Tim focuses on working with Senior IT executives from the region's leading IT&T organizations across consulting projects, research and analysis areas such as IT and Telecom trends and Enterprise Mobility.
