IDC Appoints Noted Analyst to Vice President & IT Executive Advisor for IDC’s IT Executive Programs
25 Jun 2012
Industry veteran to
focus initial research efforts on cloud economics
FRAMINGHAM,
Mass., June 25, 2012 – International Data Corporation (IDC), the premier global provider
of market intelligence, advisory services, and events for the information
technology, telecommunications, and consumer technology markets, today announced
the appointment of Joseph
C. Pucciarelli as Vice President & IT Executive Advisor within IDC's IT
Executive Programs (IEP), an exclusive family of research programs intended
to help today's time-constrained IT
executives more effectively apply technology to their business challenges. In
this role, Mr. Pucciarelli will
continue to use his 20-plus years of business and technology experience to
provide ongoing insight and guidance to business and technology executives
seeking to leverage the critical technologies of cloud computing, mobility,
social business, and big data/analytics that have begun transforming both
business and consumer technology usage and interaction models.
As
business and IT leaders continue to struggle with strategizing, applying, and
quantifying how these changes are affecting their organizations, Mr.
Pucciarelli will focus his research on operational, organizational, and
financial implications confronting clients. Specifically, in this new role, Mr.
Pucciarelli will focus on facilitating and enabling IDC's clients as they rethink
their business and IT strategies, architecture, and platforms.
Building
on his IT economics experience, Mr. Pucciarelli will be spearheading innovative
research into cloud decision economics. He recently led the IDC team that
published a Cloud
Decision Framework Tool that helps inform those seeking insights
into their application and workload hosting strategies by enabling the
comparison of an existing workload hosted on a traditional IT architecture with
both a private and public hosting platform. Mr. Pucciarelli will build on this
momentum and publish new research to help IT executives navigate the
overwhelming choice in cloud platforms and make strategic business decisions
regarding a cloud strategy.
For the
last six years, as Program Director, Technology
Financial Strategies for IDC, Mr. Pucciarelli has provided wide-ranging
research on IT funding and financing strategies for both providers and IT
organizations. A noted analyst with more than 20 years of broad-ranging
business experience in the financing and technology industries, Mr. Pucciarelli
has held a variety of consulting, product marketing, risk management, and
senior management positions with companies including Gartner, GE Capital,
Peregrine Systems and his own company, ComplianceOfficerForum.com. In addition,
his research on IT security and the U.S. financial system prompted a
Congressional hearing before which he was called to testify.
"IDC's
IT Executive Programs provide a unique opportunity to engage with CIOs and IT
executives directly and offer customized insight that best supports their strategic
business needs," Pucciarelli said. "Cloud economics is just one of
the many increasingly complex issues facing CIOs and IT executives today and it
is our goal to help arm business leaders with the most valuable information
possible to support sound business decisions with regard to their technology
initiatives/investments. I am pleased to be part of the IEP program and help
leverage my experience to offer thoughtful insight and recommendations to our
participating members."
The goal of
IDC's IT Executive Programs is to offer accurate and timely research that will
assist IT executives in mitigating technology risks, maximizing
the effectiveness of IT investments, identifying and capitalizing on new
opportunities, and bringing forth solutions that are aligned with the
organization's business objectives.
