IDC Launches Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Tracker
23 Sep 2013
FRAMINGHAM, Mass., September 23, 2013 – International Data Corporation (IDC) today announced the launch of the Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Tracker to provide detailed information on the current and future adoption of public cloud services, including what kinds of cloud services are being adopted, by which customer groups, and from which suppliers. The Tracker will leverage IDC's extensive experience in monitoring and forecasting commercial software, IT services, IT systems, and consumer technologies to draw the industry's clearest picture of how the public cloud services market is emerging around the world.
The Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Tracker is designed for ICT providers, business planners, and technology buyers who are seeking to understand how Software–as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) are being adopted with geographical granularity and vendor market shares.
"Cloud services are emerging as the new foundation for IT industry growth for the next two decades and beyond. And public cloud services - those shared by many enterprises and consumers - will be the most important part of this foundation," according to IDC Senior Vice President and Chief Analyst Frank Gens. "The IDC Public Cloud Services Tracker will detail which customer segments and cloud offerings are driving growth in this all-important area, and will provide the definitive scorecard by which suppliers' success will be measured in this new IT marketplace."
The Worldwide Semiannual Public Cloud Services Tracker will provide total market size and vendor share for the 22 secondary markets included in the Software–as-a-Service (SaaS), Platform-as-a-Service (PaaS), and Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) markets. The Tracker will cover up to 100 cloud providers across a total of eight regional markets. Historical market size, vendor share, and five-year forecasts will be updated on a semiannual basis.
