Abstract

This IDC study presents IDC's predictions for the Middle East consumer telecommunications services market for 2012.

"With the telecom market maturing and operators witnessing slower earning growth, players are now demanding greater operational efficiency and lower CAPEX. In order to achieve this, operators in the Middle East are expected to enter into a wave of network consolidation and sharing. Furthermore, mobile data will continue its rapid growth, unlike mobile voice, which has become a commodity service. This will primarily be driven by the launch of LTE networks in the region, along with the increased availability of local Arabic conten, and higher uptake of social networking services." – Research Analyst Hasan Sandila, Telecommunications, IDC Middle East, Africa, and Turkey
