Enterprise Workplace

ONGOING ANALYSIS

IDC believes that a new user work environment will emerge in the next five years that will be supported by a unified, modular enterprise software stack. This "enterprise workplace" has begun to emerge as an amalgamation of technologies and solutions offered by a variety of vendors from several different functional markets. Solution providers are beginning to produce more intuitive and unified platforms, user interfaces, and applications.

The enterprise workplace will dramatically improve interactions across applications and between workers, driving productivity and improvements in work quality. Once customers understand the productivity and worker quality benefits associated with enterprise workplace, IDC expects demand for enterprise workplace will alter service provider ecosystems, application and infrastructure design, development and design tooling, and most importantly the nature of the enterprise workers computing experience.
