This IDC study provides an assessment of the current capabilities and business strategies of the leading voice infrastructure providers in the worldwide unified communications market.
"Since there is no 'one size fits all' solution for UC adoption, customers have not only the advantage of having a variety of platforms to source their functionality but also the challenge of figuring out which solution is most appropriate for them," according to Jonathan Edwards, research analyst, Unified Communications/Enterprise Communications Infrastructure. "For the purposes of this study, we focus on the voice infrastructure solutions. The results of the overall scores reflect IDC's analysis of the relative strength of each company. Yet, IDC suggests that selecting a solution provider should be based not just on the overall score but also on factors such as whether providers meet the enterprise criteria for call control, user profiles, cost savings, and/or revenue-generating opportunities."
