Robert Farish,
Regional Director, Russia / CIS Region

Robert Farish joined IDC CEMA as a Research Manager for Russia in 1995. In this position, he oversees all of IDC's research programs and consulting activities in Russia, Ukraine, Central Asia, and other CIS states. His areas of expertise cover the spectrum of IDC's research output on these markets. He has published research in the areas of Internet, PCs, printers, office automation products, and software.

Prior to joining IDC, Mr. Farish was the director of Russia Data Services, an independent Russian IT research firm. He also worked as a Moscow-based technology journalist.

Mr. Farish has an Honours B.A. in History from Birmingham University in the UK, and was a postgraduate student (Communications) at Goldsmiths College, University of London. He is fluent in Russian and has lived in Moscow for most of his professional life.

 


Simon Baker,
Program Manager, Mobile Handsets, CEMA

Simon has specialized on telecommunications markets in Russia and Eastern Europe since the early 1990s. At IDC Russia he initially covered fixed and mobile telecommunications services markets, and Internet access.

Subsequently he has specialized on the rapidly growing sector of mobile handsets, and supervises detailed quarterly monitoring of the market in Russia and research further afield in the CIS. Simon is also now in charge of all IDC mobile phone research in the Middle East and in Africa.

A former journalist, Simon edited a magazine in London on the European satellite industry and applications in telecommunications and television. He later worked as a market analyst for a major telecommunications operator in Paris, then as an industry consultant.

Simon holds an MBA degree from Henley Management College in Britain and a BA in Philosophy and Literature. He speaks Russian, French and German.

 


Timur Faroukshin,
Consulting Manager, Russia / CIS

As consulting manager, Timur Faroukshin is responsible for the development and management of consulting projects for all technology groups in Russia and other CIS countries. He has led several large-scale consulting projects in the region, which have included evaluating market opportunities, product requirements, and market segmentations in support of business planning.

Timur Faroukshin joined IDC in March 1998. Prior to taking up the position as consulting manager, he has covered the Russian network hardware, PC, Internet, enterprise software, and security software markets. He was also responsible for the research in the Belarussian IT market.

Prior to joining IDC, Timur Faroukshin worked as a freelance journalist, writing on telecommunications issues for a number of Russian and international magazines.

Timur Faroukshin graduated from Moscow Engineering Physics Institute, the Department of Cybernetics. He speaks fluent English.

 


Elena Semenovskaya,
Research Manager, Software market

Prior to joining IDC in 2004, Elena has several years experience working as IT consultant (researcher) in both the US and Canada with various private industry and Government agencies. Prior to that Elena was working as a research assistant for distribution of official publications of the European Community among private companies, embassies, banks, government offices and universities across Canada and USA.

She speaks fluent English.

 

 


Alexander Goloshchapov,
Research Analyst, Peripheral Market

Since 2004 Alexander is responsible for IDC's researches of Russian peripheral products market (printers, copiers, multifunctional products, scanners and so on); he studies Russian distribution channels. Along with regular researches such as annual and quarterly reports he makes customized reports, conducts presentations, participates in conferences etc.

Alexander had worked at some leading industrial and IT commercial companies for some years. Prior to joining IDC, he led a marketing department of one for the Russian largest office equipment distributors. He has abundant experience in marketing analysis of IT and hardcopy market.

Alexander Goloshchapov graduated Moscow Aviation Institute (State Technical University). He has skills of sociological and marketing studying.

Alexander is fluent in English.

 


Xenia KirsanovaKsenya Kirsanova,
Research Analyst, Telecom Market

Ksenya joined IDC Russia in 2005. She is responsible for IDC’s IDC's researches of the handheld devices and smartphones market in Russia.

Prior to joining IDC, she had an experience in conducting marketing research and organizing seminars. Currently she is graduate student at the Higher School of Economics.

Ksenya speaks fluent English.
