Accelerating Your Journey to a Digital-First World

Digital is now a permanent, yet dynamic fixture in our world. The journey to the future digital enterprise has accelerated, driven by significant investments in new customer experiences, new digital ecosystem business models, digital supply chains, and Future of Work initiatives.

According to IDC’s Future Enterprise Resiliency and Spending Survey Jan 2022, 42% of Indian enterprises indicated that responding to the pandemic forced them to quickly shift to a digital-first strategy which they will continue to extend.

The digital-first world revolves around customers, employees, and ecosystems. Enterprises not only focus on going digital across all three streams, but they also understand the interplays among them. By 2025, 60% of I1000 will gain twice as much, in terms of meaningful returns, on tech investments that augment employee/customer activities compared with ones that automate individual processes.

Summit Themes

Customer Engagement & Experience

Customer Experience (CX) has never been emphasized so much before. As the pandemic endured, more organizations prioritized improving CX, retention, and engagement. While enterprises are focusing on providing world-class CX, some points to ponder are:

  • Transforming CX into customer success and loyalty
  • Getting unified visibility and actionable insights without compromising on customer data and privacy

Employee Engagement & Work Models

66% of Indian enterprises indicated that Intelligent digital workspaces will be an expected way of working across locations, time zones, and devices. While enterprises have invested in technologies for hybrid work, few questions remain:

  • Sustaining hybrid workplace for long-term
  • Continue to collaborate effectively without compromising on productivity and provide close to physical workplace experience
  • Secure employees, organization, and ecosystem on an ongoing basis

Sustainability/ESG

IDC predicts that by 2024, 75% of G2000 digital infrastructure RFPs will require vendors to prove progress on ESG/Sustainability initiatives with data, as CIOs rely on infrastructure vendors to help meet ESG goals - Sustainability, FutureScape, Nov 2021

  • ESG – Commitment to environment and society, governance, security, and trust
  • Adopt sustainable technology products
  • Partnerships, alliances, and ecosystems collaboration is key to sustainability goal success

Digital is now a permanent, yet dynamic fixture in our world. Individuals in schools, companies, and governments are always asking whether there is some digital-based capability or enhancement that could improve lives and desired outcomes. For the enterprise, digital-first takes digital transformation to a different level – and the definition of value has been redefined. It is not just about the bottom line, or top line. There are also sustainability targets to be met, and organizations need to think about how they deliver ecosystem value at scale. This session will highlight the action items that CIOs and their C-suite teams will need to take, as well as the technologies that will most likely have the biggest impact as we look to drive sustainable value creation in a digital-first world.

We are living in a digital – first world. Fuelled by the need to adapt to pandemic-driven changes, companies accelerated digital transformation, training efforts on customer and employee experience along with agile innovation. The pandemic hastened companies’ transition to digital-first business, emphasizing the need to improve remote worker productivity along with the ability to leverage data insights to better understand customer requirements and optimize business performance. According to IDG’s 2021 Digital Business survey, the lion’s share of companies (91%) are heavily immersed in the planning and execution stages of digital business or have fully transitioned to make the change. 41% say that developing a business case/roadmap for their overall digital strategy is the most crucial step to digital business success. Sustainability: An imperative you can’t choose to ignore

Sharath Srinivasamurthy
Research Director, Enterprise Solutions & ICT Practices, IDC India

Enterprises increasingly realize the importance of sustainability. Environmental sustainability essential to be perceived as trustworthy in the market. There is growing importance of nonfinancial value drivers as a metric for determining who to do business with. This is from both the environmental perspective as companies seek to reduce their impact to appeal to customers and employees in competitive markets and from a financial perspective as companies determine that they will lose business for noncompliance with government regulations or customer requirements. With the rise of pressure from government institutions, financiers and customers, India will soon fall in step with their worldwide counterparts.
