IDC Future of Work

Future is Now. What´s Next?

DIGITAL FORUM | Czech Republic | October 15, 2020

Overview

No one could have predicted the state of the world today. Besides the death toll, the current pandemic has thrown the European continent into the deepest recession since World War II. This is an important inflexion point in history and there is no return. The world will never be the same post-crisis - like the virus, it has mutated in something stronger.

In the workplace, the current crisis has been a catalyst for profound workforce transformation. Companies that have succeeded with business continuity and resilience during the crisis, were led by an agile, engaged and highly skilled workforce. Whilst no one has a golden recipe for the "new normality", we can draw lessons from recent months and prepare for the future. But how can we prepare ourselves for a constant change?

We believe the following elements will be help us in shaping the next normal:

  •     Hybrid workplaces that increase employee productivity
  •     Automation and intelligent technologies that create the best employee experience
  •     High-performance teams that can adapt to an ever-changing world
  •     Empowerment of employees and new models of trust and leadership
  •     Lifelong learning, which fosters a culture of innovation
  •     Wellbeing in the workplace
