People Centric Technology Innovation in Public Services
Massimiliano Claps
Research Director, Government and Health Insights, IDC EMEA
People Centric Technology Innovation in Public Services
National, regional and city must deliver seamless services and resilient infrastructures that align with the needs and values of citizens. The public sector has been investing in technology innovation initiatives for over 30 years, but the outcomes are in a few cases underwhelming. Many fragmented projects did not scale from a department or city neighborhood to a more holistic approach. The pace of technological innovation continues with edge computing, 5G, 6G, and artificial intelligence. These technologies are converging to generate and process vast amounts of data that can unleash the benefits of solutions such as seamless tax compliance, integrated health and social care, and mobility as a service, at scale. However, public service leaders will only be able to realize the full potential of these technologies if they focus on people-centricity, starting with the desired outcome and not the technological solution.
