IDC and Google Workspace Executive Dinner

Placing Frontline Workers at the Heart of your Business

London, November 3, 2022

Overview

IDC’s invitation-only, complimentary, Executive Dinners are designed to be a small-scale, personal, and interactive gathering, with sufficient time for you to connect with like-minded industry peers. The structure of our event aims to be simple and effective - starting at 6.30pm and ending at 10pm, with discussions being held over a three-course dinner and champagne reception.

The pandemic shifted working patterns and made hybrid work a permanent change on a global scale. However, this work revolution has not benefited the entire workforce: frontline workers, who became our “heroes” during the crisis, have been left behind.

At least 60% of UK workers are considered frontline workers, performing non-desk jobs – across many industries and in a wide range of professions. From highly skilled, such as hospital clinicians and engineers to less qualified, such as couriers and customer service representatives on our shop floors. Their jobs are the backbone of our economies, but they have been taken for granted for too long.

Frontline workers share the following sentiment, according to recent IDC surveys:

  • 50% of frontline workers do not agree that their employer equips them with the technology and processes that aid their productivity and/or improve their wellbeing.
  • 50% of frontline workers agree that their employer does not offer them adequate digital training to ease technology adoption
  • 50% of frontline workers agree that their employer does not provide them with secure access to internal files and other enterprise resources.

As a result, at least 35% of UK frontline workers are actively looking to switch jobs, whilst many others are retiring early because they feel they don’t fit in the job market anymore. The job crisis is real, and as the ratio of vacancies has hit a record high in the UK, it is exerting pressure on an overstretched workforce.  Therefore, how do businesses resolve this situation? Is there a way to facilitate our frontline workers?

If you are an IT or business leader, join IDC, Google, and likeminded peers at this exclusive dinner to discuss these key topics:

  • How to retain your frontline workers and increase their job satisfaction? What working experience can be delivered that makes them feel connected, engaged, and valued?
  • How to empower your frontline workers? What digital tools and solutions can maximize their productivity and/or help them deliver a great customer experience?
  • How to enable better security and compliance for frontline workers without compromising their user experience?
