  • How to become agile and more efficient in a shifting economy
  • How are digital SMBs leveraging partner ecosystems to accelerate their digital transformation
  • Digital investments as a source of competitive advantage

Within the last two years, European small and medium businesses (SMBs) have increasingly realized the importance of technology, and many are accelerating their digital transformation now. Efficiency and business agility are now more important than ever as the economy enters a recession period. In order to achieve this, many SMBs have been investing in IT Infrastructure and IaaS technology, and others are planning to do so in the next 12 months. When asked about customer digital transformation priorities, almost half of European SMBs (49%) claim that they’re dedicating resources to deploy digital capabilities for increased internal efficiency.

European SMBs have been highly focused on creating digital businesses for the present and the future. A few of those businesses already have digital technologies deployed within their business, with almost one in five (18%) of European SMBs claiming to already have a digital-first strategy in place with digital technologies deployed at scale across all functional areas of their business.

SMBs are investing in technology not only because it's essentially required to stay in business, but also to build a competitive advantage in time, with innovation and new products and services enabling redefining customer experience. Automation, IoT, and Artificial Intelligence are a few of those technologies that particularly medium-sized enterprises are pursuing. Using data and intelligence to create competitive differentiation is the number one critical lever to run a digital business in the next 12 months, as claimed by 38% of European SMBs.
