This IDC Presentation discusses the results from IDC's 2017 CloudView Survey involving 1,314 respondents from the small and medium-sized business (SMB) segment across 12 countries in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ). The study focuses on the adoption of cloud services, including public and private cloud models, and the management of hybrid cloud architecture. It highlights key drivers and inhibitors in using different cloud delivery models. It also shows the SMB attitudes toward cloud services in their assessment of moving different workloads to cloud.
The results reflect that SMB organizations in APEJ are less likely to use online marketplace and spend more on custom applications. It also indicates that cloud adoption is low in this segment, with slight bias trending toward private cloud adoption. Most of the key skills and technology gaps identified are in DevOps and hybrid/multicloud management, which implies monolithic cloud deployment in this segment, thus the low adoption and maturity.
