This IDC Perspective covers ongoing major Big Data and analytics (BDA) use cases in Thailand in the data-rich industries of banking, telecommunications, and retail. Although the use cases have been developed based on different agendas as per their specific industries, the potential of improving personalized customer experience and business operational efficiency is noticed, which can be extended to other industries. At the end of this study, IDC's point of view is provided, with comments regarding how the fast movers get advantages, key dimensions to success, challenges, and how the local markets react.
"Although the top management of many organizations in Thailand would typically be sold to the idea of progressing with their organizational BDA journeys, the need for a clear and explicit statement on ROI makes it difficult for BDA projects to be initiated," says Tipyada Sricharoen, senior research manager at IDC Thailand. "So, when making decisions, organizations should consider both the ROI and the cost of not implementing BDA, especially since some organizations have already embarked on their BDA journeys and are now more competitive."
