This IDC study provides market sizing and forecast by key deployment types and subregions for the Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ) DevOps software market as of June 2018. IDC defines DevOps software as being made up of selected portions of IDC functional markets spanning IT system and service management software, application life-cycle management software, and application platforms. For further details, see the Market Definition section.
"The market is forecast to reach US$754.7 million by 2022 as enterprises engage in software-driven innovation, underpinning digital transformation initiatives (i.e., embark on consumer-led product development, generate new revenue streams) to stay relevant and profitable in the industry. Businesses, even those in traditional sectors, such as manufacturing, mining, and agriculture, are beginning to recognize that technology plays a critical role in reaching new frontiers and customer segments. The rapid development and deployment of applications are becoming necessities and can only be delivered by a high-performance and collaborative IT function," explains Chris Zhang, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Software, Application Development, and Deployment Life Cycle.
According to IDC's 2017 Annual Software Survey, close to two-thirds of APEJ's businesses have already deployed or have plans to deploy some degree of continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) and DevOps practices in their organizations. "This is indeed encouraging. Contrary to popular beliefs in which APEJ is generally less mature in terms of technological adoption and advancements, this shows that APEJ enterprises are confident that agile development practices can allow them to leapfrog competition and even disrupt traditional market models," Zhang adds.
