Agile as Usual: Effective Agile for Financial Services Amid Covid-19 Realities
By: Michael AranetaAssociate Vice President, IDC Financial Insights, Clay Miller
This IDC Perspective provides recommendations for Asia/Pacific agile teams within financial services organizations amid the upsurge of the 2019 Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) cases across the region. A new mindset must take hold for agile team leaders and team members, particularly work-from-home arrangements, agile tools, and daily meetings.
Michael Araneta, associate VP, IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific, says, "We acknowledge that a distributed work environment, especially one that has become extensive and was set up very quickly as the crisis unfolded, poses new challenges for agile teams. The fortunate reality for most organizations, however, is that there have been elements of distributed teams in various forms prior to COVID-19. The foundations for being successful with distributed agile teams might already have been set. It will be agile as usual."
Clay Miller, CIO executive advisor, IDC Financial Insights Asia/Pacific states, "Staying the course with agile best practices is more critical than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic. Leaders must ensure that the new product teams are utilizing all the benefits of agile. Remote and work-from-home teams must have the resources, collaborative tools, and agile processes in places to ensure success."
