By: Alex YuenMarket Analyst, Client Devices & IPDS (ANZ), Monica CollierResearch Manager, Telecommunications

The IDC Internet of Things (IoT) Conference was held on November 8, 2017, at the Hilton Hotel in Auckland, New Zealand, with over 100 business and industry professionals in attendance. International and local speakers presented on hot topics in IoT in New Zealand and around the globe. A considerable amount of material and topics were discussed on the day, and this proceedings report seeks to cover the following important key themes: business platforms to effectively monetise IoT solutions; the centrality of sensors; and how we build a more ubiquitous IoT environment through integration with artificial intelligence technologies.

"IoT is not merely a technology revolution. It is a business revolution," says Alex Yuen, associate market analyst, IDC New Zealand. "Throughout their IoT journeys, all businesses will face disruption to their business models and need to make complex decisions, bring information from business devices online, and build an ecosystem of partners with the same vision of IoT excellence."
