IDC Perspective: Supply Chain Trends in the Indian Manufacturing Sector

By: Sampath Kumar VenkataswamyResearch Manager, Jees Jose

Abstract

The role of supply chains has become extremely important in the last decade with the Indian manufacturing organizations looking to focus beyond the shop floor for increasing profitability. The recent surge in the investments around initiatives related to the upgradation of civil infrastructure and tax regulations would immensely help organizations to plan better for the supply chain disruptions.

"The idea of a real-time data feedback to bring increased demand and supply visibility would initially aid manufacturing organizations in adjusting the supply chain flex, and in the long term would allow them to sustain competition through reduced operational costs," says Sampath Kumar Venkataswamy, research manager, IDC AP Manufacturing Insights.
