Asia/Pacific Organizations, Particularly Those in Mature Countries, Are Advancing in Their Use of Agile Software Practices
This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights the state of adoption of various technology and software development frameworks in Asia/Pacific excluding Japan (APEJ).
The survey results are tabulated from IDC's 2017 Asia/Pacific Software Survey, in which more than 910 CIOs and line-of-business (LOB) decision markers in APEJ have responded to provide pertinent business and IT insights into the priorities, preferences, and challenges faced by end-user organizations when considering or undertaking software-related initiatives, including big data and business analytics (e.g., business intelligence, embedded analytics, data warehouse, and advanced analytics), enterprise applications (e.g., enterprise resource planning [ERP], customer relationship management [CRM], talent management, customer experience, and enterprise mobility), and application development and deployment-related technologies and practices (e.g., open source software, DevOps, application containerization, and microservices) both on-premise and on cloud.
The survey question was "Does your organization use or have plans to deploy the following frameworks or technologies?":
- Agile software development (e.g. Scrum, lean, Kanban, extreme programming, rapid application development) practices
- Continuous integration, continuous delivery/deployment (CI/CD), and DevOps practices
- Application containerization (Docker, Kubernetes, and Rocket)
- Application programming interface (API) release and life-cycle management
