Increasing competition and evolving business priorities have created new challenges for manufacturing organizations. It's also quite challenging for companies to keep pace of the ever-changing customer behavior and expectations. To mitigate these challenges, companies have been looking to invest in connected infrastructure that can allow them to understand their respective value chains better.
"India manufacturing firms have been making substantial investments in technologies such as internet of things (IoT), cloud, analytics, and robotics with the intention of automating shop-floor operations and associated efficiencies. However, a bigger opportunity for the organizations would be to ride the digital wave and use the insights generated across the complete value chain to create or identify new sustained revenue streams that hinge on after-sales product servitization models," says Sampath Kumar Venkataswamy, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Manufacturing Insights.
