On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Tech Buyer Presentation looks at examples of digital grid implementations by utilities across the Asia/Pacific region. The digital grid is one of the four strategic programmes within IDC’s digital transformation taxonomy for the utilities sector. This report looks at where those use cases have been implemented in the Asia/Pacific region, and their challenges and opportunities.

"The utilities sector in the Asia/Pacific region is facing rapid levels of digital disruption, whether from the changing expectations of customers, changing business models, or new entrants to the energy value chain. For traditional utilities seeking to operate in this environment, the digital grid is the physical foundation that the future agile utility operation must be built on. The ability of a utility organisation, regardless of what part of the energy value chain it is operating in, to have visibility of what has happened, what is happening, and what will happen given different scenarios across its operation depends on building the core capability centred on a digital grid environment," says Emilie Ditton, AVP, IDC Energy Insights Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ).
