This IDC Perspective presents the digital transformation undertaken by Maynilad Water Services, Inc. through the use of industrial Internet of Things. By understanding how IT and operational technology (OT) can work together, Maynilad was able to create an environment that enabled the organization to meet its overall business objectives. With the use of technology, Maynilad has been able to better design and manage its water distribution network, increasing the number of customers provided with a minimum of 7psi pressure from 45% in 2006 to 100% in 2017 while growing its customer base from 600,000 to 1.4 million customers.
"Maynilad has significantly improved its services to clients while reducing costs and introducing operational efficiency. Employing a best-of-breed approach to integrate IT and OT, along with strong management support, the collaboration of IT and the business, and effective change management, led to the successful transformation of Maynilad," says Celeste Narvaez, program manager, IT Executive Program.
