Abstract

The retail Internet of Things (IoT) readiness index study offers a deep dive into countries in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) with respect to their preparedness for retail IoT solutions. This index is a comprehensive combination of technical metrics (such as IT and IoT spends), economic criteria (gross domestic product, ease of doing business), and specific retail parameters (annual retail spend per capita, consumer confidence index). This research offers a perspective on the adoption of IoT solutions across the region for consumer engagement, warehouse management, logistics, and store operations, among others.

"Internet of Things has the potential to automate and optimize many retail processes to improve efficiency, enable consumer connect, and build loyalty," says Shaily Shah, research manager, Internet of Things, IDC Asia/Pacific. "In the region, as countries are getting more IoT-ready, advanced tools, such as machine learning, sensors, RFID-enabled devices, and in-store engagement solutions, are helping achieve business value and productivity gains," she adds.
