Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Enterprises Struggle to Cross the Cloud Maturity Chasm

By: William LeeResearch Director

Abstract

With cloud computing, organizations are seeking to transform the ways they pay and budget for staff and manage their technology assets while optimizing how they source and deploy their IT resources. To maximize the value from investments in cloud, organizations must be aware of potential benefits and challenges. Cloud users must also regularly measure their using benchmarks relevant to both IT decision makers (ITDMs) and business decision makers (BDMs), and use these measures to assess their progress. IDC’s Cloud MaturityScape aims to assist organizations in realistically appraising their current capabilities, articulating reasonable short- and long-term goals, identifying their gaps, and beginning an action plan for change.

Based on IDC's current and previous Cloud MaturityScape Survey, this IDC Survey Spotlight examines the progress of cloud maturity in the region from 2016 to 2018. The survey was conducted in May 2016 and May 2018, with responses from enterprises in 10 countries across the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) region.
