As digital technologies proliferate in the Asia/Pacific region, and millennials drive the convergence of work-live-play, organizations need to develop a holistic transformation strategy to futureproof their organizations for the digitalized/4.0 era. IDC refers to this as the Future of Work transformation that includes new talent practices, emerging technologies, and focus on user experience.

When it comes to attracting and retaining the right talent to succeed in the digitalized era, organizations in Asia/Pacific have come to recognize the impact of introducing Future of Work initiatives into their business. However, these initiatives are usually seen in just one or two aspects, particularly in talent sourcing programs and changes in the workspace to foster a more collaborative environment for younger, more digitally discerning employees. While APJ organizations are in active pursuit to change the workspace, workforce, and work culture, readiness is still in the early days and initiatives are not yet truly transformative.

The objective of this Future of Work survey is to understand the key drivers and motivations for future of work, the associated technologies, considerations, opportunities, priorities, and challenges from Technology Buyers and Influencers in end user enterprises and SMBs across the three dimensions of IDC’s FoW Framework – Workspace, Workforce, and Work Culture.

Some of the key strategies, technologies adoption and impact the survey will examine include:

  • Understanding the Future of work transformation strategy/journey, that includes both employee and customer focused technologies, experience improvement initiatives, policies, governance mechanisms as well as budget allocations
  • Work transformation investment priorities across emerging technologies and even policies around mobility, anytime, anywhere working, use of emerging technologies, innovation model, coworking or workplace modernization, etc.
  • Key motivations and future plans driving spend priorities for areas such as Mobility, AR/VR, bots, 5G, Cloud, SDN, etc.
  • How effectiveness is measured/KPIs and how organizations perceive the impact

It will explore the key benefits of these initiatives, not just in terms of productivity improvements, but also how/if the future of work transformation is driving broader impact and outcomes such as topline/bottom-line improvement, superior experiences, collaboration, talent attraction and retention, and overall how organizations are preparing for the Industry 4.0 era.
