Abstract

This IDC study provides a forecast by operational categories, segments, deployment types, and subregion market distribution for the APEJ DevOps software tools market for the 2019–2023 period.

The APEJ DevOps software tools market reached US$380.7 million in 2018. The market is forecast to reach US$1.4 billion in 2023, from a 7.3% market contribution of total worldwide revenue to 9.0% by the end of the forecast period. The regional five-year CAGR is also the highest compared with the rest of the world and is even expected to overtake Japan in terms of market size by the end of 2019. "Adoption is driven mainly by the acceleration of digital transformation (DX) initiatives where speed (to market) and efficiency become critical success factors. This has also fueled the demand for automation and analytics, especially in the areas of CI/CD, infrastructure provisioning and monitoring, testing, and left shift of security (i.e., DevSecOps) early in the development stage," explains Chris Zhang, research manager on software research, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Organizations are beginning to realize that they will not be able to compete effectively in a hypercompetitive landscape without adopting agile software development disciplines and modern architectures," she further adds.

"Enterprises are coming to realize that they ignore DevSecOps at their peril," adds Gina Smith, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific. "Faster development cycles require that teams incorporate security configuration analysis and testing tools early in the software development cycle. We also expect enterprises to increasingly combine Software Composition Analysis (SCA), dynamic application testing, and related solutions to inventory, track, and patch vulnerabilities and other issues," she adds.
