By: Chris ZhangResearch Manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Software Research Group.

On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Survey Spotlight highlights and analyzes some of the most popular programming languages used by enterprise developers and identifies where the trend is heading toward in the next 12 months.

The survey results are tabulated from the annual IDC Asia/Pacific Software Survey, in which more than 900 CIOs and line-of-business (LOB) decision markers in Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) have responded to provide pertinent business and IT insights into the priorities, preferences, and challenges faced by end-user organizations when considering or undertaking software-related initiatives, including big data and business analytics (e.g., business intelligence, embedded analytics, data warehouse, and advanced analytics), enterprise applications (e.g., enterprise resource planning [ERP], customer relationship management [CRM], talent management, customer experience, and enterprise mobility), and application development and deployment–related technologies and practices (e.g., open source software, DevOps, application containerization, and microservices) both on-premise and on cloud.
