Pacific Basin: Navigating Its Technology Strategy in the Digital Sea
Pacific Basin's transformation journey is motivated by its aspiration to become a more agile, intelligent, and automated enterprise. These goals are driven by the company's need to grow faster, distance itself from competition, and build better efficiencies in the business processes. This is easier said than done, since the head of IT has to show a lot of tangible evidence for the investments made, which becomes quite challenging. However, PB's management seems committed to change, and moving away from on-premises to on-cloud is a big step and should pave the way for other changes such as more core apps on cloud and the adoption of RPA.
"There is no reward without risk, and same is true for digital transformation. The risk here relates to the cost, and disruptions that the organization experiences as it adjusts itself to the new initiatives," says Avneesh Saxena Group VP Domain research. "It's critically important that the CxO office supports the new initiatives, even though they might take time in fruition, since change is the only normal going forward," he adds.
