By: Bill RojasAdjunct Research Director, IDC Asia/Pacific, Hugh UjhazyVice President, IoT and Telecommunications

Abstract

Malaysia and the Philippines are two dynamic economies that are experiencing IoT spending growth of 12.8% and 12.5%, respectively. IoT is being positioned as part of the digital transformation of all major industries including retail, healthcare, financial services, manufacturing, utilities, and transportation. "Each market has distinct characteristics in terms of the state of development of their telecoms, energy, transportation, and distribution infrastructure. Both markets have strong support from their respective governments as all stakeholders have realized that IoT is a strategic part of digital transformation. Telcom infrastructure will need to continue to develop if the countries are to capitalize on what IoT has to offer in the long term," says Bill Rojas, Adjunct Research Director, IDC Asia Pacific.
