On-line Presentation

Abstract

This IDC Presentation provides an overview of Industry 4.0 policy, progress, and resultant technology adoption across 11 countries in the Asia/Pacific region (excluding Japan), or APEJ. Industry 4.0 policy creation intends to motivate industrial organizations throughout the region to adopt specific technologies to drive manufacturing and associated industry vertical outcomes. These outcomes will affect national metrics such as export value, reliance on imports, gross domestic product (GDP), productivity, skills development, technology transfer, and employment. Early adopters of Industry 4.0 thinking are illustrated for each country, showcasing the clear business outcomes and benefits derived from the data-driven capabilities that underpin an Industry 4.0 approach. Industry 4.0 is not just a technology strategy — delivering real results requires an integrated strategy.

"Industrial organizations across APEJ are largely in the early stages of understanding the implications of Industry 4.0 practices and technology adoption," says Stephanie Krishnan, Research Director, IDC Manufacturing Insights. "There are lighthouse examples of Industry 4.0 success in companies throughout the region, demonstrating the clear opportunities for cross-linked value creation despite constraints in national markets."
