IDC MarketScape: Asia/Pacific Professional Security Services — Advisory, Assessment, and Awareness 2020 Vendor Assessment
By: Cathy Huang Associate Research Director, Services and Security, IDC Asia/Pacific, James Sivalingam Research Manager
Abstract
This IDC MarketScape examined 17 different vendors offering professional security services in the highly competitive and vibrant Asia/Pacific (APAC) market. The participating organizations were meticulously evaluated using the IDC MarketScape model, which reviews the vendors' capabilities and strategies against an extensive list of scoring criteria and parameters. These include the comprehensiveness of their offerings, portfolio benefits delivered, market execution, service delivery, customer experience, and customer satisfaction. With the combination of primary research, as well as IDC's own in-depth industry knowledge and insights, we were able to methodically obtain the strength of each participating vendor, along with improvement areas. The vendors' final position on the IDC MarketScape figure will be a valuable indicator for organizations and enterprises in the region that are currently seeking a security advisor or trusted partner in their digital transformation journey.
Organizations, including government agencies and private enterprises, are experiencing heightened levels of cyberwarfare and cyberbullying under current uncertain political and economic environment. The growing level of sophistication and threat landscape, among other things, underscores the need for a significant shift in the approach and attitude with regard to cybersecurity.
"IT organizations should work with professional security services providers to enhance the internal competence level of handling threats, vulnerabilities, and more importantly manage this strategic shift to ensure effective risk mitigation and boost the trust. After all, digital trust builds up the foundation of a strong cyberdefense and cyber-resilience," says Cathy Huang, associate research director, IDC Asia/Pacific Services and Security. "
"Cybersecurity and threats are quickly emerging as the most significant business risk for many organizations, specifically in the rapidly digitalizing Asia/Pacific region. This development, coupled with the widening regulatory pressures, makes picking the right vendor a partner a strategic imperative. Thus, organizations in the APAC have to thoroughly assess elements that are beyond the basic assessment and advisory capabilities. They should, among other matters, consider vendors' strategy with regard to innovation, emerging technology, consumption model, as well as customer experience when picking professional security services partners," says James Sivalingam, research manager, IDC Asia/Pacific Services.
