Market Perspective: 2020 Technology Theme Implications for Asia/Pacific (Excluding Japan) Communication Service Providers
By: Shiv Putcha, Hugh UjhazyVice President, IoT and Telecommunications
Globally, communication SPs (comm. SPs) are undergoing dramatic changes, similar to how most enterprises across verticals are transforming as well. As such, the Asia/Pacific (excluding Japan) (APEJ) region is certainly not an exception. Enterprises are grappling with multiple objectives and imperatives, focusing on cost savings and new business models and becoming more customer-centric and agile in their operations. Heightened competitive intensity is forcing comm. SPs to innovate not just in their operations but also in their engagement with customers and channel partners.
"Ultimately, this boils down to the changing role of comm. SPs in the ecosystem surrounding enterprise IT and networking spend. They must move beyond being mere connectivity providers," said Shiv Putcha, contributing analyst, IDC Asia/Pacific.
